Friends

In 1980 if you asked me who my best friend was I would have said, "Patti Masciulli." In 1990 it would have changed to "Patti Urbaniak," but only because she got married. 2000, same answer. 2010, ditto. Patti and I have been BFFs since our freshman year in high school. She literally introduced me to my husband. We are both italian/catholic girls with big families, hard-working dads and stay-at-home moms. We were both cheerleaders. We both married our high school sweethearts (and stayed married to them!) But what I love about Patti is how different she is from me. She is super-disciplined. Her house is always spotless. I am pretty sure she has never weighed an ounce more than she wanted to. She keeps amazing records of EVERYTHING. She keeps all her doctors appointments. She is sooo smart. She is beautiful. In fact, now that I'm typing this, I don't know why I don't HATE her! But I don't. I love, love, love her! And one of the things that I love about her are her kids. They are awesome and sweet and funny. Today's recipe comes from her daughter, Allison, who was only about 13 when we made this recipe book.

Hot Pizza Dip
1 pkg. (8 oz.) of cream cheese, softened
1 tsp. Italian seasoning
1/4 tsp. garlic (oops! I misread that - no glasses- and used 1/2 tsp.!)
2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup of pizza sauce (I used a little bit more)
In a bowl, combine cream cheese, Italian seasoning and garlic powder; spread on the bottom of a greased 9-inch pie plate. Combine cheeses; sprinkle half over the cream cheese layer. Top with pizza sauce. Sprinkle with the remaining cheeses. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Serve warm with tortilla chips or breadsticks. (I had tons of leftover Townhouse crackers from Christmas, so I used them.)

We ate this last night with my other BFF, Lisa and her husband and son, John and JC. We all loved it! Super-easy, I had most of the ingredients on hand and so, so yummy! Thanks, Allison, I love you! :-)

There is no such thing as too much garlic, ever!

x2. I don't think I've ever eaten anything and thought that it was too garlic-y. Glad you got to hang out with the Lettermans, too!

This sounds like Jamie's favorite dip only with pizza sauce instead of chili. Sounds delish!
